Halloweenish Words from Ancestors — in a Poem!
(This is not the graveyard I reference!) Photo by Lisa Yount on Unsplash
I write this because nearly every morning I walk past a church cemetery. Lately, in the beautiful early morning autumn weather, bluebirds act as I describe in the poem below.
Furthermore, I share specific energies with the souls represented there. I send love of a fellow human, a bit of remembrance, gratitude for having shared their life energies here, honor, respect, and peace. I always linger on peace. I thank them for having made history, because the whole course of life, especially for all who knew them, would have been poorer. This is not occasionally; it’s every morning I am there, about 95% of the year.
One morning when I had said this to them, I asked them if it made any difference. In fact, I told them I wondered if I made any difference in this world or theirs. I was feeling pity for myself because I don’t know, at times, if any of this shamanic work means anything beyond myself. And maybe that’s all I should know.
However, this one morning, I “heard” very clearly, “You are making history, too. Live like it.”
Here’s one part of my history in writing this poem.
